Alannah GuevaraPrint and Ebook TeamAlannah Guevara is on the Print and Ebook for the Spring 2022 semester at Cal Poly Humboldt. Previously, she worked as the Production Team Lead for the 68th volume of Cal Poly Humboldt’s Toyon Literary Magazine in the fall of 2021. In the interim period, between then and the current spring semester, she began working for HSU Press as a student assistant. She enjoys her work very much and aims to build a career in publishing. She’s even discovered a newfound passion for book design and typesetting. In 2021, she earned her Associate’s degree in English at Riverside City College where she graduated as the student of distinction in the field of creative writing. Alannah first found her passion in publishing while attending RCC when she worked as a student editor on volume 35 of MUSE Literary Journal. She is a winner of the 2022 Sana, Sana competition, and will have a spoken word poem published on Toyon’s website. A SoCal native and proud Chicana, Alannah has plans to flee the dry, dusty desert for the rich, welcoming soil of Humboldt county where she will earn her B.A. in English and a minor in literary publishing. More importantly, she is eagerly awaiting the arrival of her firstborn child.

Nick NielsenMarketing, Publicity, and Distribution Team
Hey everyone, my name is Nick Nielsen and I’ll be serving on the Marketing, Publicity, and Distribution Team for Vol. 68 of Toyon. I previously served as Co-editor of Poetry and was privileged enough to sort through the collective brilliance of all those who submitted works. I’m originally from New York and am now in my junior year at Humboldt, although it is actually my first semester in person! Time has certainly been behaving strangely these past few years as we all know. I love all things art, from writing and drawing to music and dance. I find human creative expression to be one of our greatest attributes and feel deeply blessed to be connecting with so many brilliant thinkers in our community. I hope I get to meet more in my remaining time here and am looking forward to continuing Toyon's legacy. I’ll see you guys out there!
